I have made 2 catalogs now for my jewelry business. One of my greatest business accomplishments and for sure a great way to get sales. I would say that I averaged 2500.00 from start to finish, but the sales that came in were totally worth it ( I brought that much in the first month of them being published). I believe having a catalog shows you believe in your business and gives you some credibility as a handmade seller. To keep costs low, ask friends and family for help with photography, makeup/modeling or ask someone to trade your goods for theirs. I traded jewelry for my makeup artist's work.
I also have to give a shout out to Printplace.com for their help with my catalogs. They were patient and most helpful, plus their prices were the best around. Very impressed.
Don't be scared of doing a catalog, but be prepared for some great sales!
Be well.

This is a great article. Creating a print catalog has been on my "to do" list for a while. Maybe this will help me finally get it accomplished.

A product catalog is great marketing tool that few sellers take the time or have the know-how to produce. I have a friend who creates an online catalog and shares it via Issuu. The results are beautiful! http://issuu.com/pinsandpaper/docs/p_p_catalog

Hi Jeanne,

I am starting a web page for my small company, so far there is two employees; my friend and I.

I want to makea unique catalog, and business card, and I would like to haer your idea. What makes my items so popular in Orange California, is that every piece is unique.

Your advise will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Another way to get a great looking catalog is to design the layout yourself and then find a good online printing company to print it. This can be very affordable, and actually more affordable than printing at home because, of course, the greater the quantity you can order at once, the lower your cost for each. And then you don't have to mess with the hassle of aligning your office printer correctly or binding the pages yourself. Plus, you can easily find a printer who uses all green practices for printing. Best of all, you'll have a professional looking catalog that spell quality to your customers.
