Go Postal – Mailers to Potential Buyers

Thinking outside the box is something every Etsy seller must do to be successful on the site.  We were excited to hear this tip from HandmadeMarketing.org reader and Etsy seller Debra.

In an effort to increase traffic to my Etsy shop,” Debra says, “I send out mailers one time per month to addresses that I have collected over the years as a sales rep. My goal is 25 per month. I include a mini flyer and a small item such as a paper cut heart in Feb and this month a bunny and four lead clover. I had two sales in Feb because of the mailer.”

Which outlets have you looked to for advertising?  What worked for your Etsy shop?

  1. When I found this posting, I just had to read it. How Ironic that the title is almost similar to one of the chapters in my Etsy Marketing ebook.

It is fantastic that Etsy seller, Debra has found mailers to be an effective way of promotion for her. Collecting a good amount of addresses is not easy so it’s nice to have a list of 20-50 names and addresses to start off with. Did you know, mailing lists can also be purchased. I would probably not recommend this for every Etsy seller to do, but it can increase exposure and possibly even sales for Etsy stores. Mailing lists can be very expensive if they come from large corporations but some companies like Quality Lists offer cheap mailing lists. I got one a few years ago that had like 500 addresses for less than $30.

Etsy sellers who do not want to purchase mailing lists can also build their own in several ways. I list many of them in my ebook.
