Outside Etsy – Web Tools To Help Sell
When looking for tools to help increase your Etsy sales, sometimes you have to look outside Etsy.com. HandmadeMarketing.org did just that and found some great resources!
- Calculate. Our team came across this calculator to help Etsy shop owners figure out how much a sale is really worth. If you want, get a more accurate number by including your cost to make the item in with the postage category. The best part about this tool is that the calculator is updated with the latest Etsy fees – your final number should be very accurate!
- Treasury Check. Stop seeing stars! Find out if you are in any Treasuries by just entering your shop name at Craftopolis
- Hearts. Check out the “heartomatic” – where you can see who hearts your Etsy shop! Our team thinks this is a great tool to use for targeting those potential buyers and getting some extra sales. Consider using this information to convo those who heart your shop for an extra 10% of their purchase this month.
- Banner Help. If you are looking for a template to use for your Etsy banner, check out this blog. They are basic, but may be a good quick fix if your banner is struggling.
- Keywords. Struggling for good tag terms? Try an online Thesaurus! EtsyMarketing.org reader Jeanna Mandeville, from Etsy shop beansthings, turned our team onto it! “I use the online thesaurus for help with tags!” Jeanna told us. “It has really broadened my “horizon” and allowed me to help others having tag trouble. It is very hard to come up with descriptive words and this online thesaurus helps!” Great resource Jeanna!
- FAQ. Have questions about Etsy.com that you are embarrassed to ask? Etsy sellers, especially newbies, may wonder “What’s a Treasury?” or “How do I use an embed code?” Our team checks out Etsy Wiki when we’re lost.
- Tiny URL. URLs can get a bit out of control, so if you are looking to shorten yours up, check out TinyURL. All you do is enter in a URL in the text field on the TinyURL site and they will create an itsy-bitsy URL that will not break in email postings. Plus, the URL never expires. Join us and add this awesome tool to your browser’s toolbar!
- Watermarks. If you are selling art or photography on Etsy, you may consider using a watermark. Our team is divided on the use of watermarks, and turns out the Etsy community seems to be too. If you are very worried about people reproducing your work, go with the watermark. If you are more concerned about being featured on outside websites and Treasuries, consider going without. It’s a touchy subject for some sellers on both sides, so we won’t dive into that now. If you want to use watermarks on your item photos, hop over to PicMarkr where watermarking is professional and free!
- Hack In. Check out EtsyHacks to see the latest in tricks on Etsy.com. Our team thinks the “Where Am I?” tool could come in handy when making sure you tags are effective. The tool shows you where you Etsy shop falls in a search!
- Photo Editing. If you are looking to enhance your photos, check out PicNik. Get simple, effective photo editing tools. Plus, no need to register in order to use the service. Oh… and it’s free!

Hello,
I’d recommend a different shortening URL such as Tr.im where you can retrieve shortened URLs and get tracking information.
Lisa
I’d recommend using the google keyword tool to get ideas for good tags. You can input different words and phrases, get synonyms, and also see the search numbers for that term. No more guessing at what people are searching for – now you know which ones are popular!
Here’s the URL: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal#
(Too bad Etsy doesn’t share their search numbers… Now THAT would be useful information!)
Having a automatic bookmarking tool is necessary, because this means you will save an average of 3-4 hours a day, or perhaps an average of $200/month in bookmarking expenses while you create the greatest results in terms of traffic and Page Rank increase.I think that social bookmarking is something you just cannot pass over if you need your business to actually start moving, also using a effective automated bookmarking software is definitely the most essential and cost effective way to do it.
Article distribution is a critical component of your overall article marketing campaign. Without a effective strategy, writing articles is only a waste of time, If your article marketing strategy consists in merely submitting an article or two every week, your results will be likely really poor, It needs more than a few articles submitted a week to acquire results.
