Banner Up – The Feel of Your Shop

One of the first things our HandmadeMarketing.org team notices when “entering” an Etsy.com shop is the banner.  Some sellers are lost for ideas to turn their banner from “so-so” to “SALES!”  Here is a tip from Cyd at Etsy shop BotanicalBird for shop banners:

Consider doing a banner that is eye catching and/or shows off what you sell,” suggests Cyd.  “Include a short descriptive sub text line. Keep in mind there are quite a few artists on Etsy selling very nice OOAK banner designs starting at $15 some even come with a matching avatar.  This is really important, it’s the first thing that people see and it’s your shop logo, you want something that’s going to stick in people’s minds, something appealing.”

Thanks for the tip Cyd!

Did you join with another seller to create your banner and/or avatar?  How did the partnership work out?  Did you see a jump in store visits or an increase in sales?

We would love to hear any additional banner/avatar tips from handmade sellers!  Give to HandmadeMarketing.org by sharing a tip or two about marketing your handmade shop. If our editors like your idea, we will feature your tip in a future article and cite your shop as the source.

One of the most important things to remember is to make sure that your banner and avatar reflect the look and feel of your shop. Even if you don’t have pictures of the items that you sell, buyers will still know what type of shop you have & the type of things that you sell.

I make banners and I would be very interested in reading more about what Etsy sellers need in a banner.

I added a new banner photo that I love! Need to add lettering still, but it changes the whole feel of my shop. It’s like painting your bedroom. You want to run around and redecorate the whole place!
