Tips From A Pro – Strike Gold in Treasuries

Our HandmadeMarketing.org team was excited to hear from a Treasury pro. HandmadeMarketing.org reader Leah Mackin, from Etsy shop LeahMackinDotCom, shares some tips she has picked up for getting into Treasuries.

“A bunch of my products have been in Treasuries, on the Etsy home page, and I’ve made a handful of Treasuries myself.  I picked up some of these tips from the forums, as well!” Leah says.

1. Amazing Photos.  “This is an “in general” tip, but especially so for Treasury-featured items. I’ve noticed for Treasuries that make it to the Etsy.com’s front page (FP), the photos are typically super up-close and show off some fabulous texture or are staged very well,” Leah says.
2. Describe It. Leah suggests having detailed product descriptions and the best possible tags.  “This is so your product will show up in more searches,” Leah says.  She especially recommends tagging by color, material and adjectives like “funky” if appropriate.  Great ideas Leah!
3. Keep Up To Date. “Recently listed items seem to make it into more Treasuries because they are easier for Treasury-makers to find,” Leah tells us.  “They show up in the early pages of a search.”  Leah’s tip is to renew Etsy items or simply list new items often because newer items have a greater chance of exposure.
4. Watch The Clock. Leah suggests renewing or listing new Etsy items around the time when Treasuries are slated to end.  “Watch the Treasury page when there is about 20 minutes left – then renew!” Leah says.  “This provides greater exposure specifically to the Treasury-making audience!”
